Rupee strengthing day after day - BL
MUMBAI: The Indian currency flared up by a steep 28 paise to close over 20-month high at 44.29/30 against the U.S. dollar on the back of heavy dollar sales by banks, despite rising global crude oil prices.
In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened strong at 43.51/52 a dollar against last Friday's close of 43.57/58 and rallied further to settle at 43.29/30.The rupee had ended at 43.20/25 on July 21, 2005.
